Anyone have experience with CVA scout single shot rifle’s?
Son still wants a rifle in 45-70, was thinking about picking one up to see how he handles the caliber before we move on to more expensive options.
Anyone have any experience with them?

No experience with one, buy for only $460~ it’s hard to beat. Resale might be difficult if he doesn’t like it or wants to upgrade. If it were me, I’d start watching the local pawn shops and gun stores for a used lever action. If you don’t find him one by end of this month, order in the CVA and give it to him for Christmas.

My nephew got a Browning falling block .45-70 a couple years ago at a pawn shop for $450. It was in like new condition, too. Absolutely beautiful rifle. They had a price tag of $650 on it and he jewed them down to $450.
Most used large caliber firearms are shot very little.

I’m just saying you might be able to find a used lever gun in 45/70 for a comparable price. You buy the single shot, then decide to to upgrade, you might not get much on the resale. You find a decent Marlin 1865, or even one a little beat up, the resale value will be higher.
