1942 Savage Enfield MK4
Just bought it from a friend. It is superb condition. I also picked up an original Savage bayonet and Scabbard for it. Still waiting on the 350 rds of ammo that comes with it. I saw a box of 180 grain soft tip hunting rounds at Fleet Farm today for $58. I'll wait.
I'll post pics when I get a chance. Always wanted me an Enfield. |

Nice!
That's the 30-06, isn't it? I get them mixed up which ones were .303 and which ones were '06.

Very nice score, I've always had a soft spot for the British Enfields since buying my first one when I was 18 or so.
Do you think that's the original wood finish? |

I'm not entirely sure but it's unlikely. It probably has a new stock because it's so perfect. I can't imagine a war rifle from 1942 surviving in such nice shape. Or maybe it sat in a closet for 81 years.... who knows.

My friend bought it from a S. African who somehow brought it back here without import markings. |

Look up south african enfield markings. It may have one on the receiver. It looks like a "U" with an arrow inside pointing up.

Thank you, it's a real nice looking rifle... far better than any I've seen for sale at any gun show. My friend apparently had enough fun with it and asked me if i was interested. I told him I was and he texted me a few pics. When it showed up from Alabama I was impressed because it looks even better in the flesh.
