Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default Unique sounds

How many of you older guys remember the unique sound of the old late 40s and early 50s Buick Dynaflo transmission?

Don't remember the Buick sound, but I remember the double clunk sound our 52 Dodge made when it shifted. It had the two speed automatic with fluid drive and a manual clutch and the shift lever on the steering column that looked like a standard shift but wasn't. Probably one of the oddest set-ups anyone ever came up with.

I've actually driven one a long time ago but I don't really recall as In only drove it once,if I had to guess it would be a gurgling whirr sound?

The transmission made a loud whine when it was under power. They were beautiful cars. You could open the hood from either side.

They had a straight 8 engine until 1953.

That should be the same type we had. Called a Tip Toe or Gyromatic transmission. You used the manual clutch to move the shift lever then it acted like an automatic. Speed up to about 20 mph, let up on the gas, and it would up shift to high gear. It also had a low range but we never used it.

'38 Ford Field firetruck V8 FlatHead
'47 Dodge Bros panel truck 354 Hemi 727 TorqueFlite
And I've had two hot-rodded straight sixes with LakeHeaders.
Those sounded like WWII fighter planes.
I'm building another now. I hope it has the same effect.

Well, I do know the sound of the AK-47 rifle - the preferred weapon of our enemies. It makes a very distinctive sound when fired at you. lol

JD, are you a gear-head? Tell me what you think of this.
An '88 YJ Wrangler with a 4.0L Jeep engine with a 4.6 Stroker kit to put out 300hp and 300ft/lb backed up by an early 700R4 4sp turbo-hydro. Fourth gear is overdriven. 2WD/no transfercase with a straight front axle out of a Comanche. Frame lowered instead of the usual lift.
There's no front fenders. I'm not sure if I want to leave it that way,(FL has no inspection and vintage cars hardly have any rules) or try and make a set of CJ2or3 flat fenders fit.
What do you think? 300 HP and probably won't weigh 1500 lbs.

big block Mopar 383 Magnum that had been tweaked a bit... Crane cam, Cyclone headers, 10.5-1 pistons, Edelbrock high-rise with a 850 CFM dual pumper dual feed Holley and a B&M hole shot torque converter.

was in a 70 Cuda with that glow in the dark green paint... damn i miss that car. it had a strange idle that sounded like you could hear every cylinder fire.

also old school Chrysler starter motors, they had a unique sound all there own.
