Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default Anyone know if you can still get innertube hot patches?

I've still got my old hot patch vice thingy. But I did some brief searching for hot patches and couldn't locate any. All I could find is cold patches.

Either will work in an emergency. But hot patches hold a lot better than cold patches.

A vulcanizing rig. I haven't seen the "burning" patches in a long time.

I don't think there is such a thing as a hot patch kit anymore.

Vulcanizing was the only way to go, it was permanent!

I guess too many people just throw the innertube away and buy a new one anymore. Also, not as many things have tubes in them either.

Not available in US due to 'health hazards', EPA probably. Found a China site though.

http://www.wheel-weight.com/kp-hot-t...ches-6205.html

FYI my wife has been on an Ebay buying kick of silk and glass beads from Chinese venders and the service and prices has been excellent. I would not use a credit or debit card though. She uses paypal.

Shit, Thought I saw hot patches at this site but couldn't find them again when I went back. Brain fart?

Dang government screws up everything. I'll check out that link. Thanks.

Anyone else remember putting a boot in a tire that had a cut in it?

I remember the hot patches I used to buy had a camel on the can.

Hell yeah, it was the ONLY way to go, with the old two ply tires.
I remember making a "boot" out of the sidewall of another tire, just to get by.
As long as you could keep the boot in place there wasn't much of a problem.
But, high speed, hot tire, would sometimes cause "problems."

Another example of a "boot" is duct taping innertube material to the inside of an ATV tire, THEN installing the tube. That very thing is done around here because of the puncture weed.
Fix-a-Flat has a tendency to rust the inside of the rims.
Slime works good, but not everybody thinks ahead to use it early.

I think Camel company still makes patches, cold ones though,I use them on my tractor tubes,,,you just clean the area with carb clean, put on a little glue, let it set for a second and put the patch on ,mine have have held good in hot and cold weather,,or at least until I run over more nails

The absolute best inner tubes were the old red ones. Those things would seem to last forever. I remember back when I had a 49 Ford, one of the tubes must have had 50 patches on it.

They were the best to make sling shots out of also.

The kits I remember came in a red cardboard tube with a metal lid that had perforations on it to rough up the inner tube.

i remember back when i had a 40 Ford it had all red inter tubes in the tires, and yes, they were the very best for making sling shots. up until about 1972 i still had one just for that purpose, then along came the "Wrist Rocket" that used surgical tubing. i still have that slingshot just need new rubber.

Hot patches are amazing. I've used them to patch even the sidewalls before and they held. Yeah, yeah, I know, not recommended. But sometimes you have to do things in a pinch and you can do that when using quality stuff.

I haven't seen them though for about 10 years.

Dang, I guess the Camel automotive company moved out of the US. (Chased out by the US government).
