One of the barber blades in the curio cabinet has an attachment I can only describe as a standoff. Never grown a beard but it looks about right for that use.

The high end kitchen knives are maintained by crock sticks. But they're thin edged stainless blades.

I have excellent success with a good stone
and Samurai sharpening technique. I have been thinking about making my own MDF sharpening wheel for my grinder. Charge the wheel with white polishing composite. Looks like excellent results. MERC
