Jesus Walked on Ice Instead of Water???
Sorry Nof, but I have never seen a boat sail in ice. Nice try.
http://channels.netscape.com/whatsne...=20060405-0842 Science Tells How Jesus Walked on Water The Bible says that Jesus walked on water, but a professor of oceanography at Florida State University in Tallahassee says Christ was actually walking on a floating piece of ice. The sixth chapter of the Gospel of John tells the story familiar to Christians: When evening came, his disciples went down to the sea, got into a boat and started across the sea to Capernaum. It was now dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them. The sea became rough because a strong wind was blowing. When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat, and they were terrified. But he said to them: "It is I, do not be afraid." (John 6:16-20) Reuters reports that FSU professor Doron Nof credits this miraculous act to an unusual combination of water and atmospheric conditions in what is now northern Israel that could have led to ice formation on the Sea of Galilee. Using statistical models to examine the dynamics of the Sea of Galilee (now known as Lake Kinneret) and records of surface temperatures of the Mediterranean Sea, Nof determined there was a period of cooler temperatures in the area between 1,500 and 2,600 years ago. This could have included the time in which Jesus lived. Read the rest by clicking link above:

Years ago there was one about the Red Sea only being a few inches deep at the time of Moses.
Most preachers came back with "So all those Egyptian soldiers drowned in a few inches of water?" |

Given the complexion of the people in the area at the time I would say that's possible.

I'm sorry but when it comes to what he looked like it doesn't matter ,what he did does .
I'll just trust in what I have read in the one book !!! I don't need a scientist to tell me what faith is !!! |

I sent a respectful email to the fellow with the "walking on icebergs" theory pointing out what I feel is a flaw. It's more grasping at scientific straws, but will probably be hailed as a brilliant step toward debunking the existence of God.

What utter drivel!
Perhaps the "Professor" would like to to visit me some time when it's cold enough to have ice on Lake Michigan, it's only about a half hour walk from my house to the Lake. He could demonstrate his theory some night ... in a storm! I'll film it for free because I can sell it to "Jackass" or "Stupid Home Videos"! For a real "myth busting" headline we could run up to Lake Superior, in a storm, at night, with ice. Quote:
Why accept part of the story and reject the rest? Maybe the sea was really calm, maybe it was daylight not night, Maybe Jesus didn't walk, maybe he just stood on an ice flow, and it transported him like a flying carpet. Maybe he was on a very low altitude flying carpet. Maybe he was carried on ropes hung from a TV station helicopter that was caught in the Bermuda triangle and thrown back in time. As for the "picture" , Cephus said it all, whether Jesus looked like Arnold Schwartzenegger, Adonis or Alfred E. Newman is so inconsequential as to be not worth the time spent typing this paragraph. Some might think this kind of foolishness irritates me, just slightly. They would be right! Sometimes I find it difficult to maintain my kind, gentle and understanding demeanor! Regards, |
