Updating Your Computer. Please Do not unplug or shut off.
Went to shut down my desktop PC last night around 23:00 but got the message above. My PC ran until around 06:00 doing what it called updates. I thought maybe I hit the Windows Ten popup without knowing. (Windows-7) I was trying to watch a movie on one of those pirate sites last night when I started seeing popups from a shakedown company telling me to call this phone number to get help in virus removel. I rebooted and all seemed well. I found a safe movie on netflix to watch. Everything seems to be OK now.

Pirate movie websites and porn websites are the biggest spreaders of computer viruses.

When I'm sitting idle, just thinking, or maybe watching the TV over the top of my monitor, and suddenly both lights go off on the console, indicating a major activity on the computer, I immediately punch the button for a shutdown.
If I don't, it is inevitable that something is happening and I'm about to freeze up. THEN, when I reboot, Firefox gives me the option of which window I want to maintain. Most times it's because I have several windows open and one of them is phuked up. |

run Windows Defender that comes with Windows 7. Pirated movie sites and porno sites are full of viruses, like Pogo said.
If you want to watch movies without damaging your computer, order an Amazon Firestick and load it up with Kodi and install some other applications and programs found on the net, make sure you have good WiFi signal and enjoy free TV.

Thanks aviator. I just checked and had it turned off. I've been running (AVG 2016 free) for the last few months. Running scan now.

Windows 7 appears to be doing forced updates.
I have my settings to ask permission, but my home and work computers (all Windows 7 machines) all did updates in the middle of the night, and rebooted themselves.
