Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

gun Supercavitating bullets that can obliterate a target underwater

https://kitup.military.com/2017/04/s...nderwater.html

Quote:
NATIONAL HARBOR, Maryland — A Norwegian company hopes the U.S. Navy will see the value in its revolutionary product: bullets that “swim” and remain effective on target for significant distances underwater.

The secret to DSG Technology’s CAV-X supercavitating bullets is a specially turned tip and carefully calibrated balance and mass, creating an air bubble that allows the munition to shoot through the water, said Kristian Aksnes, director of Special Operations Forces for DSG. The bullets are tungsten with a brass shell and designed to be fired from conventional weapons, he said.

While Aksnes said the technology is completely scalable, the company is offering the bullets in NATO 12.7, 7.62 and 5.56mm, as well as smaller calibers. The 12.7mm bullet, a machine gun round, has an effective range of 2,200 meters through the air and 60 meters underwater, according to the company. The 7.62 and 5.56 rifle rounds are effective underwater at 22 and 14 meters, respectively.
With the bullets being made out of milled tungsten, these rounds cost a fair bit, and will likely never be available for the general public. But for special purposes, they certainly are effective and quite facinating.

60 meters underwater is incredible. Most all tests show rounds to stop at not many meters from firing into water.

On the way to the machine gun shoot my buddy & I were talking about SLAP rounds. He was saying SLAP rounds thru an M60 caused catastrophic barrel failures due to in-bore break-up of the sabot and the penetrator puncturing the side of the barrel.

These look Llke SLAP rounds to me.

I can see why you might visually compare them to SLAP bullets, but they are not the same. What appears to be a break away sabot, is not meant (or possible) to break away. Thus avoiding the problem you mention.

Absolutely. And the same with the 22 and 14 meters for her 7,62 and 5,56. For those who need such capabilities, it is a real game changer.

Could be handy against sharks, Orcas, and Manatees.

Especially those manatees, they are big and scary looking.
As for sharks and Orcas, just don't swim where they feed.

Manatees are actually quite docile creatures, content to munch on seaweed and bask in the sun near the surface.
