Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default Still some German K98's being imported

Saw one dealer I've dealt with before, Classic Arms, has a bunch of Russian captured K98's for sale now. I didn't know anyone was getting them in anymore.

Prices are steep. Way too steep IMO running $500 and up for a run of the mill Russian refurb. My most expensive Russian capture was closer to $300 and that was a single rune Steyr.

Got mine back in '96 dated 1942. $150bucks. Not a refurb, but weathered, with Nazi proof marks.

That's way too much for anything the commies "refurbished".

Well, they are definately collectable.
No longer being manufactured.

Soon they will be in the "unobtainable" or two or three thousand dollar bracket.

Get 'em while you can, then brag, in ten years or so, about how much it was worth when the BAT FEces consfiscated it as an Assault Weapon.

Century has some K98s listed. Not as nice as the ones at Classic, and you have to call for the prices.

Too bad the prices are out to lunch. I have a full set of BNZ's, all years made, but my 1939 660 coded one was ruined by the importer and their billboard stamp on the rear site body. Looking at these Classic has, the import stamp is on the receiver and that's worse.

Reckon I'll keep mine for a while longer. I bought it from the man that brought it back from France at the end of the war, so no import marks. It has a worn leather sling with it too.

I picked up a nice 1937 Lubecker Maschinenfabrik-manufactured K98 just a couple of months ago at a gun show; $300 out the door. Looks like it was reworked at some point as a number of the smaller pieces of the rifle don't have matching serial #s. I completely stripped it down after I bought it & found 13 different Nazi inspection marks on it in various places. No importation stamps of any kind. Still plenty of strong rifling left & shoots great.

I've seen a number of those Russian-capture Mausers in guns shops lately. Most are beat to hell, electric pencilling on force-matched parts, revarnished stocks in that peculiar red-tone the Russians use, and very dark bores. $500+ for mismatched junk.

Mitchell's Mausers are bastardized and not worth a dime from a collector standpoint. They look great because they sand the stocks, buff and renumber the metal parts to match the numbers, then refinish. I'm sure they'd make nice looking shooters, but again, from a collector standpoint they are ruined.

I wasn't aware of that. Interesting to know.

I bought a new unissued 98 several years ago. I can't remember what country it came from. It wasn't German though. I'll have to dig it out and post a picture.

I've also got a Turk that I restored. Not a bad shooter either.

I bought a K98 from Samco. It's not one of those capture guns, not refinished etc. Still has the front sight hood too. Only problem is it's not German, it's Czech, made in Brno. Samco still has them advertised for $229

I know they strip and sand the stocks and polish and re blue the metal. I've read reports about the serial numbers being ground, polished out, and renumbered.

There is a lot of discussion about these and this latest batch of K98s at Classic Arms on other boards. Some believe this latest batch were rebuilt at the Tula Arsenal for resale within Russia, making them a slightly different variation from the typical Russian captured K98's we've seen coming in over the last few years with the serial number electro penciled to "match".

I had no idea that Mitchell's Mauser's were renumbered parts guns, it sure has been kept quite for a long time. I though they just got new stocks & maybe a new screw or too.
