Most of those were before my time, but it's still fun.

"cigarette loads" - My friend and I loaded an entire pack of his mom's cigarettes.

We came in from playing and she was sitting on the couch, hair frazzled, tears in her eyes and cigarette tobacco all over the place. She tried to light every one of those cigarettes we loaded and we didn't get a single dud!

We sort of got in trouble - after we got back from the store with a new pack of smokes for her. (if the parent called and told the storekeeper their kid was coming down to pick up a pack of cigarettes for them, they'd sell them to us)

Good one. I have the CD with that song on it. Best of the Statler Brothers I think.

Yeah, I remember most of those. I was growing up during that era. When did the Burma Shave signs go away, anyone remember? I'm guessing the late 1950s.

Sure was a lot nicer back then. The only thing that is better now than back then is medical care. We didn't have computers, air conditioning, and all the fancy things back then they everyone thinks they "need" now.

But that was a lot friendlier and safer era. People could let their kids go out and play and walk a few blocks away to play with friends without being worried that harm will come to them.
