That does seem like a very cool DIY makes too much sense. I would only worry about the heat melting the housing. how hot does the krypton bulbs get?

Well, the update is, I didnt do it today. I tried, but I couldnt find the flashlight. Admittedly, I only looked in Target, but I thought for sure they'd have it. I'll keep lookin though, maybe tomorrow. On the flip side, I got a ton of sandblasting and parkerizing done.

I believe that flashlight used in the video came from Wal-Mart.
Got a couple of them around someplace, thinking I'd hunt one up and do the same mod if Bulletboy had a positive report. Guess I'll try it anyhow next time I come across one of them. Should work just fine, but i wouldn't expect any great battery life. Simple math, once you know the battery and bulb specs. Regards, |

Well, It works.
I was at Walmart today and remembered this so I looked at the flash lights. They didn't have the Eveready but they did have another that looked like it would work for .88 cents so I bought it and three 123 cells (this was the expensive part!). The Lamp was at Radio Shack for $1.39.
This flashlight is probably not the best for this modification since the bottom does not come off, you have to be careful not to screw up the spring in the bottom when cutting out the ribs. But I got the 123 bateries in and the thing is realy brite! The lamp you want from Radio Shack is the Krypton one that says it's for 6 "C" or "D" cells that would be the same as the 9 volts you will get from the three 123's. Funny thing is the package says it's rated to 7.4 volts or somthing like that but it's the highest voltage one they had. Works good. |

That was pretty damn cool.I got a CR123 wall/car charger and 6 rechargable CR123's off ebay a while back for my streamlight weapon torch and surefire G2 for less then $25.Sure saves money.
