Looking good!!! Best of luck with her.I also have a smaller L-19 kit I need to build.I just love those Cessna's.
I need something small for buzzing around the yard. But a formal R/C club field is about a mile away. But even today, some "plank" flyers don't like "chopper" pilots. How about an r/c "Predator",the USAF drone? |

There are a few on the "SPAD" website.
One running on a weedchopper engine. SPAD = Simply Plastic Aircraft Design. ( I think.) |

Well today was the maiden flight. Flew it three times, about 10 minute flights each. Didn't need very much trim adjustment at ALL! It's climb rate and acceleration is great! The roll rate is very fast.
It flies straight as an arrow, and is pretty fast. I'm going to try a different prop tomorrow, see how much speed I can pull out of the plane. The flaps really help on the landings. Turns a fast flying plane into more of a floater, and lets me slow it down for a cushy landing. We took pics and video... I'll post them later.

To say that I'm happy with it would be an understatement. It's been a month and a half of tedious work to get it all ready. I'm really proud of the fact that I designed and built it from scratch.
I had a grin on my face a mile wide when I did my first high speed low altitude inverted pass over the field this evening. It's fully symmetrical airfoil and mid wing design really makes the Pirate agile. |

Startin' her up! Takeoff run... And liftoff!! Gliding to a landing after the engine decided to quit. Notice how the ailerons are angled down...they are called flaperons. Ailerons turned into flaps when activated, turns the neutral position of the ailerons down 30 degrees or so when activated, and still maintain aileron function. Made a difference too, nice cushy landing on to end the first flight. |

I swear, that looks like Chuck Norris!
---------------------- Okay, that aside, Will we have some "Nose Art" in the works? She sure does look good, and, that full flaps aspect is a winner! --------------------------------- Did you say there was a video, also? |

Yeah the plane wasn't even finished as far as the exterior is concerned. Since the plan earned it's stripes, I added them to the wing. It's also going to get some Jolly Rogers type skull and crossbones.
Video to come soon. |

Nice work.
Hope that plane was in a restraint when you started it. It could have taken out something near and dear to you. I have flown RC for over 30 years and in the 60's it was CL. Sign in on the RC pages is SCRATCHBUILD. I have not bought a kit in the last 15 years.
