Watching as a now deceased friend, reloaded rounds for one of his tank's cannons...think 30-06, but scale it waaaaay up to like the projectile was say...four inches in diameter. And the powder was being poured into the shell by counted cup-fulls...and your getting an idea.
Sadly I passed up on buying a 37mm anti-tank cannon years ago at the Creek. Lacking a good cleaning up, the removal of pounds of cosmoline from the bore, a good pressure wash &repaint, etc....AND....the later hunt for a breechblock...that was transferable or even a dummy. Should have nabbed one. There were four to choose from and my dually's bed was empty. I even had a tarp that could have been used to conceal it from public view. I fucked up. Prob would never have shot it....but....it would have made a great tow behind Jeep accessory. |
