Making my own dehydrated meals for hiking/camping/overlanding

Been dehydrating fruit and veggies all week in order to make my own dehydrated meals.

One of my creations will be veggies for a soup mix. I figure with a chunk of pemmican or beef jerky and a handful of dehydrated veggies boiled up in a bush pot, I should be able to have a pretty nutritious and filling soup or stew while out in the wilderness.

I have carrots going right now. So far, we've done apples, strawberries, pineapple, sweet peppers,

s, and cherries.

Still have left: green onions, garlic, corn and potatoes.

When I make my mixture, seal it up in portion sized pouches and vacuum seal them for long-term preservation.

I just wish I had the $3-$4 thousand for a freeze-drying machine. Those things are slick as hell. I mean, you can even freeze dry ice cream!

I heard a few people on another forum with the high dollar freeze dryers & they sound like got taken.

toss in an oxygen absorber. i was wanting a freeze dryer too but damn...

Good deal Sanders. That is something we are looking to add to our food storage we already have a commercial dehydrator. Homesteading family on youtube did a fair comparison between the two machines.

Pro tip: When dehydrating onions and garlic, don't do it in the house. Take it out to the garage or porch. Trust me.
