Pistols and rifles in The Good , The Bad, And The Ugly
Interesting stuff.
Especially Blondie's 1866 Winchester "Yellow Boy" mocked up to look like an 1860 Henry , but they can't get around the right side loading gate. It's a Winchester. I like Angel Eyes' Remington Pistol http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Good,_the_..._the_Ugly,_The MERC

I always wondered what was that squeaky piece of shit Tuco
was playing with in the store. A Galand 1868 Revolver. It wasn't made yet in the time of that movie MERC |

I have watched that movie several times and it looks too me that they had a shortage of the colt 1851 navy with the cartridge conversions on the set because eli wallach uses one in some scenes and in others its a normal cap & ball 1851 navy.
Angel eyes had a 1858 Remington that was cap and ball only but had a belt filled with .45 cartridges in loops on his holster.

I really did not pay much attention to the guns used but interesting info here from yall that do.
I watched a show on the making of those westerns and those guys for sure had some fun. Angel Eyes damn near lost his head laying next to the tracks with a passing train. Stairs were down on the train which he did not see and it gave him a haircut. The movie where they blew up the bridge? It was the wrong bridge and the locals were frigging pissed. They had to rebuild it. Plus the demo team blew it up to early they had to adapt and duck for cover.

It was interesting to read that Lee van cleef was only 5 years older than clint eastwood...I always thought he was much older.

A rookie kid was put in a car with me back in the early 2000's. He told me grew up in Jersey and his first girlfriend was Lee Van Cleef's grand daughter. I asked what was he like. The kid said he was 16 , Van Cleef was older and looked at him with death in his eyes because he was with his 16 yr old grand daughter. 😎 The rest of the 4x12 tour was pretty wild and the new kid got his trial by fire that night. Welcome to the big leagues . MERC |

I often try to catch screw ups in movies, especially when it comes to firearms or the military.
It's obvious Hollywood directors know very little about either subject.

Before The Good , The Bad , and The Ugly , westerns always had a clear line on who is the good guy and who is the bad guy. TGTBATU greyed the lines where there was no real good guy. Filmed in the deserts of Spain with Italian actors. Leone , like any other director , took a lot of "artistic liberties " with the weapons MERC |

John Milius and Sam Peckinpah were directors who knew guns well.
