Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default Smith & Wesson 500: The Gun That Has As Much Firepower As a Rifle

No, I don't want one.

As heavy (or nearly so) as a Walker Colt is not ideal for scrawny little me.

Quote:
No ordinary handgun could withstand the trauma of firing a .500 Magnum
bullet, and rather than stuffing the round into an existing frame Smith &
Wesson invented a new frame size: the X Frame. A Model 500 handgun with a
standard 8-3/8 inch barrel has an overall length of fifteen inches and weighs
4.5 pounds empty—the equivalent of three Glock 17 pistols. The Model 500’s
cylinder is two inches wide, compared to the 1.18 inches of the Glock, and
holds just five .500 Magnum bullets.
Written by someone who doesn't know the difference between cartridges, rounds and bullets.

Yeah, that was a pretty poorly written article.

It was likely put out there to get the attention of gun-banning politicians and activists to try to get them to go after it.

$1,149 on Guns International for the 8 3/8 in barrel. Not real bad for that much gun. A woman on the Netflix series that runs an airport and hunting camp in way up N. Alaska has a shoulder injury and now carries a S&W .44 mag. mod. 29.
She can't shoot high powered rifles. So it could have some applications? The shorter barrel one you can bet you would have to be a foot away from your target to hit?

If I owned one, it would definitely make a trip to Mag-Na-Port for some "taming".

Those hurt your hands when firing...as in painful....A guy at the range let me shoot his......its more of a novelty /bravado/machismo piece IMO.

Makes my 29 feel like a 9mm

I fired one once. And you are right. There are a lot of once fired used ones for sale.

I had a chance to buy one for $750 and turned it down. I can't imagine walking around with a 4.5 pound gun on my hip. Nor do I want a handgun that is going to tear up my wrist and elbow. A hot 45 LC is my maximum.

I saw that one awhile back too funny and just spent the last 30 minutes looking at more gun fails...I don't think most of them are funny actually.

I used to have a 6.5" 500 Performance Center Lew Horton model. What I loved about the revolver was that you could hand-load WAY across the spectrum. Want to keep the Tyrannasaurs out of the garden? Load up some 700gr rounds that would make a grown man's wrist break in anticipation of the hammer dropping. Want to swat flies? Press in a 325gr. bullet over a load of Trail Boss and have a plinker that kicks less than a .357Mag (what with the weight of the revolver).
