Scope shims?
scope ring shims that is,,,,I think I may in need of scope ring shims of some sort,I checked Brownells and didn't see what I was looking for.
Has anyone homemade them? here is my dilemma: Winchester model 70,,no matter what type of rings, bases or scopes or combination thereof I use my sights end up all the way to right and I max out my windage to get it back to center,,elevation is not a problem, just windage. I am begging to suspect my holes for scope mount are not drilled correctly and I could probably take it a gunsmith but I want to try it myself before I do that. I scoped my other rifle this morning and had it ready to hit paper in 20 minutes. any suggestions ?

You said you checked Brownell's but was that only for shims or did you also check out their windage adjustable mounts?

only for shims,I'll recheck for mounts or check the internet in general,,I guess I didn't know you could get adjustable mounts,,that will make it easier and a ton less work of grinding one side and shimming another

I would have a competent gunsmith/machinist fill the holes and re-drill the holes correctly.
I had to have that done on a Ruger MII with a bull barrel. The so called gunsmith was sloppy as crap. In addition when he tried to tighten the screws his screwdriver slipped and scratched the barrel. I took it to a machinist and had him fill the holes and re-drill and tap to make new threads.

Pull the scope and reset the screws without the base, then take a straightedge and check the alignment
