My broccoli is knee-high. The rain we've had sure put the growth spurt on all my garden - except my corn.

I got it all tilled and fertilized. It's time to drink some lemonade.

I know, Indiana is corn capital of the world.
But you left all that grass mixed with the soil, it'll grow back up!! |

Hey, I'm lazy, I don't work any harder than I have to. I would sure like to get a nice rear tine tiller some day. That would make the work a lot easier. And no, I didn't grow that corn. That belongs to the farmer. |

My rototiller is in my back. That is why I don't get a lot of new beds every year.
This year I spent all my back sifting dirt from the neighbors. He got a new sidewalk installed, and I got all the dirt they dug up.

My broccoli is growing.
That's not my weed patch on the other side of my broccoli patch. That is the neighbors. I sprayed the first 10-15 feet of his weed patch with Roundup. |

W picked off our broccoli yesterday. Might get one more picking. Good stuff. Our garden has done very well this year. A world of difference a load of manure can make.

Yep, just wash it and put it in freezer bags. Looks like in the picture that you should have picked it a few days ago. Then again it might be a different variety than what I plant.
The ones I plant have dark green heads when they are ready to pick. Anyways, it should be tasty, just heat it up in some hot water, and put it on the plate and pour some melted Velveeta over it. Real tasty. |

This is the first I've ever grown...it is a little darker than the picture - the sun is shining down on it. I tried to capture the rainwater droplets on the heads, but it didn't come out right - and I'm not much of a photographer. The top one is a bit overgrown, though - it's starting to open up.

Yeah, it could be just the angle of the sun making it appear lighter than it is. Sometimes it is difficult to get a good picture. At any rate, it should be quite tasty.
I planted 8 plants from the little starts that I grew from seed. I gave the rest to my buddy up at his farm. I never freeze it myself. We pick it and eat it when it starts getting ready. I usually give some to my son for his family. With 3 growing kids, they can eat a bunch of broccoli. |
