The answer to the question no one asked a 45-70 AR
https://www.range365.com/an-ar-rifle...ver-die#page-2
$4800 comes with 50 pieces of brass and load data, since the cartridge has to be modified to work with the AR308 bolt face. Interesting... but not for that price.

Interesting, but why? Alot of additional cost, and hassle with no benefit.

It would be even more fun if you could load them up with black powder. Imagine the smoke cloud a mag dump would make? Problem is the gas system would probably get jammed up before half a mag...

If you want to build some thing in 45-70, start with a Siamese Mauser action and build it into a 45-70. A lot more affordable and practical.

Built one for my father. I don't think he ever shoots it.

I considered building a 458 SOCOM AR at one time. Never got around to it though.

Local gun stores sell .45-70 405gr for over $2.50 a round. I was buying online for about $1.40 shipped but no more internet sales in Commiefornia.
Needless to say, it puts a big hit on cost of ammo |

I cast my own bullets and bought unprimed brass cases from Starline. That makes the ammo affordable.
