Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default I tore my Sig 1911 apart

I'm getting rid of the "Series 80" firing pin safety. And I'm shaping the trigger for a trigger shoe.

I like that vice, is it a suction base or a friction bottom?

It is a vacuum base. Works good. And it wasn't very expensive.

Found one just like it, by Panavice, $91.00.
Not bad for a good hold down.

No. I bought it from Amazon.com. I bought one from their "warehouse deals" - one that had a mangled box but the contents was like new.

I didn't care about the box anyway, so I bought it. It cost me $20.55

Looks like Amazon is out of them but they still list several dealers that sell them for a little more expensive.

Bessey has been in the business of making woodworking clamps for a long time. One of the best in the business. Unfortunately like almost every other thing you buy they are now made in China.

PanaVice is also a good one. It is a little more expensive but about the same thing. I'm sure it's now made in China as well. The PanaVice jaw width is a little smaller than the Bessey. The PanaVice is 2 1/2" wide and opens to 2 1/4". The Bessey is 2 3/4" wide and opens to 2 3/4".

Amazon has a couple of the PanaVice discounted because of damaged packaging.

Did that to two of my 1911's last Friday. Also installed arced main spring housings.

Thanks for the heads up and pointing out the differences.

I have never had a series 80, 1911A1. I did not know you could nix the firing pin safety contraption. Interesting.

There's a spacer for series 80 frames. Have one in my colt. Very nice. I carry Rock Island Armory 1911's. The four prong spring makes it easier to do a 3/12 -4 lb.trigger pull.
