Constipated Dog; May Have To Go To The Vet Tomorrow
I have a very constipated dog and may not be around much tomorrow because if an olive oil enema doesn't work in the morning I'll have to take her to the vet.
Arka, the German Shepherd from Poland, one of the sweetest and dearest creatures I have ever known…she's getting older and loves to chew and eat bones and I suspect that is what caused the problems…she gets Taste Of The Wild dog food, venison/bison mix, and no treats…other than the above bones. I'm open to ideas but so far I've tried giving her pumpkin puree to eat, pieces of suet fried up, and a while back when the problem first showed itself we gave her a 'fleet' enema which seemed to work for a while…and while she is the oldest of the three, she is only about 8 and honestly, I just can't face the possibility of loosing her. Ideas, any ideas, are welcome. Diesel 88888888 (this is Arka) |

Try a glycerin suppository, they use them on babies. Make sure she isn't passing blood. Give her lots of water.

I had a dog that was constipated once. I called the vet and he told me to feed him a can of pumpkin. And then if that didn't help to bring him in. It worked. And the dog loved that can of pumpkin.
Sounds like you need to take your dog to the vet.

Feed her pulled pork BBQ without sauce. The dam will break.

In a few minutes I'm going to give her an olive oil enema…yesterday I gave her some canned pumpkin puree and she seemed to like it but threw it up shortly thereafter…I'll be trying a smaller amount as well.
I think she remembers the first enema and doesn't want another…but will still have to lick the oil off of her anus. Diesel 88888888 |

When I had that problem my daughter in law gave me some stool softener pills. Worked for me. I no longer glut myself with milkshakes or ice cream.

This morning I got her to drink some water, and she ate a couple of dollops of pumpkin puree…and is resting more comfortably…think I'll try the baby suppositories if the olive oil enema doesn't work…not yet applied.

I suspect it's bone chips from eating bones…which she loves.
