Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Question .22LR vs .22WMR?

What's the difference?

My best friend from H.S. sent me a pic of a revolver he bought for $100, from a coworker of his, that needed cash.

It came with 2 cylinders and one box of .22LR, and one box of .22WMR.

I would venture to say that any added benefits or power you would normally get from the WMR round is wasted in a pistol with a short barrel.
That being said, I have a bunch of .22 rough riders with both the LR and WMR cylinders.
The WMR's make a nice fireball, especially with the 2.5 and 4.5 inch barrels

Based on the 2 pics he sent me, his is a Heritage Rough Rider, with a 6" barrel (it looks longer than a 4.5").

The WMR stands for 'Winchester Magnum'?

I love my .22 Win mag. Marlin bolt action with 'micro grove' I think they call it? Holy sheet is that thing accurate. Out to a 100 yds. I can shoot an acorn out of a squirrel's paw. While he is on the run..

Yeah, it's a good little round out of a rifle. I know a few guys that hunt with them around here.
Just kinda wasted when you're not getting the velocity or energy from a pistol. If I remember the articles correctly, you're losing 300-500 fps going from 20in down to 6 in barrels.

My buddy up in Vermont a .22 mag rifle is all he hunted deer with. He has about 400 acres on his farm and mornings if you looked quick it looked like a cattle ranch there was so many deer in the field outside his cabin.
All head shots and he kept his freezers full.

My brother brought in a number of small deer using just a 22lr. I've heard poachers around this area favor the 22wmr with a removable mag.

I have several of the Heritage revolvers. Don't like the goofy looking safety though. Wish the Ruger Wrangler would come out with a 6 inch barrel.

You can remove the safety on the Heritage, and they make a plug kit for the holes

Been a lot of deer poached with the .22WMR.

It loses a lot in a pistol barrel, as was already mentioned.

One of my favorites was the Winchester lever action .22 WMR my grandpa used to let me shoot. I don't know who got it after he died.

You can dry fire with the safety on, though. After a while, you get used to it being there.

My cousin is on his second Rough Rider after wearing out the first one he bought. He was shooting 500 rounds/week through it for a couple years straight.

You mentioned that before Sanders and I remembered. Myself and a buddy borrow a friends .22 WMR lever Win few boxes of ammo few targets and off to the range.
100 yds. open sights no siting in just having some fun. Holy sheeet we were both hitting like a grapefruit size pattern without really going like sniper Joe concentrating.
With adjustments we would have tore that center 10x out of the paper. Its not the cost you try to buy one their gone before you hit the damn button.
