22 Ballistics – Hyper, Standard Or Subsonic Rounds – Which One?
Been stocking up on .22 LR ammo. I don't want to get caught short if there is another drought like happened under obongo. I had ammo, but didn't want to shoot it. Now, I'm shooting that up and replacing it 2:1. Since Cabela's opened a store in Albuquerque, I can usually get a brick on sale for $25 while other places are still either sold out, or trying to sell a brick for $35-$40.
Funny thing is, I never gave the ballistics a whole lot of thought except to track down the ballistic info on CCI Mini Mags and CCI Blazer, only to discover their ballistics were identical, according to their website at the time. Quote:

Good info. I wonder how a .22 Magnum would compare?

With pistol-length barrels, you're wasting your money with .22mag. 22lr and .22mag perform almost identically out of a 6" or shorter barrel. 16" or longer is where the .22mag starts to shine. I've taken hawg with a .22mag.

A whole lot of poached deer could attest to the power of the .22 magnum.

Years ago I bought 250,000 Federal Red Box .22. They work fine in both my H&K .22 conversion kit for the G3K & the CMMG dedicated upper for the M-16. They are quiet in both my Ruger 77/22 & Mk II integrally suppressed guns. When I run them thru my Spectre II on full auto they aint as quiet as I hoped, but are fine while on semi auto.

My old eyes had a bit of trouble seeing the chart but what I read was very interesting. Yup my Marlin .22 mag bolt micro grove at a 100 yds. is dead on accurate.

Yes, they do. My former police officer neighbor is proof positive.
