I almost ran over some ducks this morning on the way home from work. Seemed like they came out of nowhere and caught my tired ass off guard.

We have so many lakes and canals around here that there "Crossing Ducks" signs all over. Very common in this neighborhood to see mamma duck trailed by 10 or 12 ducklings on the middle of a road. They are a pain in the ass.

It was dark out, and I was tired. The ducks were close together while crossing and at first I thought it was a dog or something. So I didn't slow down (I was driving 30 mph) because a dog would see me coming and turn back or dart across. But ducks? Ducks are like "F you, I'm walking here." So I had to slam on the brakes to the point where I lost sight of them because they fell below my hood and field of view. I hit the brakes hard enough that the dashcam "detected an incident" and saved the video without me prompting it.

Those pain in the ass ugly Muscovy ducks. Would you believe their the most common duck served in European restaurants. Catching on in American restaurants alongside the Pekin duck.

The Muscovy duck is the Rolls Royce of poultry. Long favored by Europeans, it’s fast becoming the first choice duck in the US, and with good reason.

Coming back from Seattle there was a young gal stopped in the middle lane of I5 near Olympia shewing some ducks across the lanes causing people to slam on their brakes....I will refrain from saying what I would like to say about...her
