Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default Scope shims?

scope ring shims that is,,,,I think I may in need of scope ring shims of some sort,I checked Brownells and didn't see what I was looking for.
Has anyone homemade them?
here is my dilemma: Winchester model 70,,no matter what type of rings, bases or scopes or combination thereof I use my sights end up all the way to right and I max out my windage to get it back to center,,elevation is not a problem, just windage.
I am begging to suspect my holes for scope mount are not drilled correctly and I could probably take it a gunsmith but I want to try it myself before I do that.
I scoped my other rifle this morning and had it ready to hit paper in 20 minutes.

any suggestions ?

You said you checked Brownell's but was that only for shims or did you also check out their windage adjustable mounts?

only for shims,I'll recheck for mounts or check the internet in general,,I guess I didn't know you could get adjustable mounts,,that will make it easier and a ton less work of grinding one side and shimming another

I would have a competent gunsmith/machinist fill the holes and re-drill the holes correctly.

I had to have that done on a Ruger MII with a bull barrel. The so called gunsmith was sloppy as crap. In addition when he tried to tighten the screws his screwdriver slipped and scratched the barrel. I took it to a machinist and had him fill the holes and re-drill and tap to make new threads.

Pull the scope and reset the screws without the base, then take a straightedge and check the alignment
