Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default I bought a 330 lb magnet

I've been watching videos of people fishing with magnets. That is throwing a magnet attached to a rope in the water and try to find something valuable such as anchors and guns.

You can buy them rated for 1,000 lbs and more. I decided before I spent $50 or more on a magnet I would buy a smaller one. I bought a 330 lb one for $13.95.

It arrived today and it was smaller than expected. I tested it on my refrigerator and wasn't impressed. I could pull it off with about 30-40 lb pressure.

I then thought I'd test it on my small griddle which is about 3/8" thick cast iron. I lifted it downward to the griddle and when it got about 3/4" from the griddle it lifted up the griddle with tremendous force. I wouldn't have wanted my finger between them.

I tried to pry it off with my hand and couldn't get them apart. I took it out to my garage and threaded a 3/8" nylon rope through it. I put my feet on both sides of the magnet and pulled on the rope. I couldn't get the magnet off. The rope was cutting into my hands.

So I got a thin bladed drywall knife and drove it partially between the magnet and the griddle. I then drove a tree cutting wedge between the knife and the griddle. I finally got the magnet raised up high enough to pull the magnet off the griddle.

The magnet was now stuck to my drywall knife but I could pry them apart easy enough.

I'm going to try fishing with this magnet before I invest in a more powerful and more expensive one.

Thumbs up

Well hell welcome to magnet fishing Pogo.
It is like metal detecting underwater we magnet fish here all the time. Lot of items are corroded but a lot are still in good shape. Go around bridges and marinas and try your luck.
People heave stuff off of bridges quite a bit and their are treasures waiting for yah..

Just don't find an old Buick and lost the magnet, because you couldn't get it off.

About any old car from the 1950s.

Fenders back then were thicker than modern bumpers.
