I have one of those coffee grinders that I used to grind grain.
Ran some "naked" barley through it and it was flour in no time. Same with wheat, corn and everything else. Still like my little hand grinders though, they kept my hands busy during TV commercials. Heck, kept me busy just listening to the TV shows. Only problem was keeping tabs on that little drawer underneath the grinder. |

Yesterday, I bought a little filter for the machine that allows me to load my own without having to buy the cartridge/packets.
Like Gus, I love fresh ground stuff. They sell a blend in New Mexico that is made with pinyon nuts mixed in with the coffee. Everyone I know who has tried it loves it.

I'm a coffee junkie. I like mine with a little bit of sugar...and if the spoon doesn't stand up on it's own in the cup.....it's not strong enough.

Hmmm, Coffee! (sigh, sniffle, sniffle)
Ah well, next year maybe. But it will go like this. 1. Grind some roasted Nicarauguan Antigua, medium fine. 2.Put two level tablespoons per 6 oz of water into a French Press coffee maker. 3. Add 6 ounces of Not quite boiling water per cup desired to the French press. actually, at 4700 feet elevation the water can boil, your only at 200 degrees or so, but never heat to 212 f. 4. Wait 3 minutes. 5. Push down the plunger on the french Press. 6. Pour into your cup, note the frothy 'Crema' on the surface, inhale the incredible aroma, then sip as desired. 7. Spend the next several hours with a smug self-satisfied smile on your face. 8. Repeat as required to keep from throttling irritating idiots! 9. Life is GOOD! Regards, ... |

Down south, I got hooked on coffee and chicory. Farmers Market and Louisianne were two of my favorites. A lot of folks don't like the peppery taste, but that just left more for me.

My espresso machine is a Mr Coffee and was $39.99. It makes the double shot or the single. I always go for the double, which is about a regular coffee cup size. If you do the steamed milk, it will fill a 28oz mug.
I also have a Mr Coffee pot with the stainless steel pot (yeah I know it's really called a carafe, but I don't know how to spell that) and is very similar to the one DorGunR posted. I love that thing!!! I can make coffee in the morning and it will still be hot that evening. And with it being in a sealed container, it's just as fresh as it was in the morning.
