Went for a desert hike.... warning contains photos of wild horses
Weather was about 81 degrees, sunny and i could see both weavers needle in the superstition mountains and the old fort Mcdowell way off in the distance which is now a indian casino on the rez. I hiked about 4 miles and broke a sweat under my hoodie because of the many small but steep hills....81 degrees feels a little cool too me .....i guess its tru what they say about your blood thinning out in the desert.

I can barely make out what looks like might be horses when magnified.
It about takes a camera with a lens of at least 300-400mm to get a good photo that far off. Looks like some good hiking country. Do you run across any wetbacks in that area?

Only ones that drive 1991 chevy astro vans this far north Seriously though......i used to do a lot of hiking , camping and exploring down south and i have seen mexican military doing nefarious shit on this side of the border.....i was awoken one morning while sleeping in my tent by voices and i stuck my head out of my tent to see a single file line of mexican soldiers carrying M16's and G3's walking up a trail. I didn't expect to see any wildlife on the hike .....i should have brought my camera with me. |

I can almost smell the sage, juniper, & pinyon pine. I have great memories of my time spent years ago in New Mexico & Arizona backpacking & camping in that country. Nice.

The smell of sharp granite, ozone and sage, juniper, & mesquite after a hard rain...up in the high desert of the Colorado plateau... I need to smell that again before I croak...
NOTHING else like that!

A few more I took this am.... I have been to some really magnificent looking places out here... this isn't really one of them .. but it ain't bad...it could be worse... I could still be living in Chicago The desert smells are very unique and nice...my camping equipment would smell of the desert and it would remind me of some really fun and scenic adventures I have had out here in no mans land |

I actually get along very well with the natives here...they are for the most part very nice to me and don't have a chip on their shoulder the way other groups do.

Nice pictures.
I wish I had brought my camera when I went hiking/scouting with my nephew out near Gleeson a few days ago. Danged if they didn't pave that road from Tombstone all the way to Elfrida. That used to be one of the roughest washboarded roads around. Didn't see any wetbacks out there, either, and I was a lot closer to the border. Did see some Coues deer, though. Then I showed him a "road" that went around behind the mountains and came out near Pierce that he had no idea existed.
