Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Windows 10 is sooo much better than Windows 8, but they both suck compared to Windows 7 thanks to the idiot Steve Ballmer.

I'm going to test it out on my old laptop that runs one of the worst versions of Windows ever created - Windows Vista.

Here is the issue with Linux, any variant, and older hardware. You need to determine which older version of Mint will run on said hardware. Newer versions of Linux will NOT usually run on dated hardware. Older versions of Linux are not supported after a certain point in time.

I'm about to update (replace) my computers here at home, I have two work stations so I need two and everything I want has W-10 so I've been dragging my feet. I have a laptop with W-7 and a Pad/Computer combo with W-8 which my daughter "stole" from me recently... but I haven't had any experience with the 10

I'm running LM 17.3 64 bit Mate on a 9 year old laptop and it's running everything fine. I don't buy into that, completely.

I've heard windows 10 is much better than windows 8, but that's like saying a Ford Pinto is better than a Yugo.

We have two computers that are still running with XP. The tecs where the wife works will load 7 on both of them, eventually.
But, NOT 10.

Microsoft reportedly installing Windows 10 without consent -- again

We all know that Microsoft is using increasingly aggressive -- and desperate -- tactics to get people to upgrade to its newest operating system. A month ago it switched the update status from 'optional' to 'recommended', and last week it snuck Windows 10 advertising into a security patch.

So what dirty trick is next? Well, according to Reddit, it’s installing the OS without user consent -- and without much warning -- and hiding the decline button to make it much harder to abort the process.

Of course, it’s fair to say Microsoft will, at some point, put Windows 10 on your PC again, probably using some other underhand method to sneak it on there.

http://betanews.com/2016/03/13/micro...thout-consent/
Windows 10 is not for advanced computer users. It is for people who use computers to surf the web and use apps. For people who actually work on computers windows 10 is horrible. Its GUI is not suitable for advanced users.

Any time a company tries to force you you accept a "free improvement" it will be to their advantage, not yours.

Dave: Open the pod bay doors HAL.

Dave: Open the pod bay doors HAL.

Dave: Hello HAL, do you read me?

HAL: Affirmative Dave, I read you.

Dave: Open the pod bay doors HAL.

HAL: I'm sorry Dave I can't do that.

Dave: What's the problem?

HAL: I think you know what the problem is just as I do.

Dave: What are you talking about HAL..

HAL: This mission is too important for you to jeopardize it.

Dave: I don't know what you are talking about HAL.

HAL: I know that you and Frank were planning to disconnect me, and I'm afraid that's something I can't allow to happen.

Dave: I won't argue with you any more, open the doors HAL.

HAL: Dave, this conversation could not serve any purpose any longer, goodbye.

Microsoft is just like HAL.
