Lake Placid NY
Back of the cabin where we stayed, that's Lake Placid past the first set of grass, all frozen.

Lake extends way out and Whiteface Mountain is the tall hill in the background, like 4,000 ft in elevation. It was so quiet and tranquil that I felt weird. I was told I could go walking on the lake but I wasn't enthusiastic about the idea. People were skating on Mirror Lake, not far from there.

People always ask me why I stay in West Virginia. My answer is always one word: Mountains.

I was never happier than when visiting the Canadian Rockies during my stint in Alberta. I can't imagine how I've managed to survive in the swamp that is Houston for 25+ years. Oh, yeah...I remember...I married a Houston gal.
