Rock hunting
Spent some time at a gem and mineral show, yesterday. Saw lots of interesting rocks.
I actually went there looking for a used rock tumbler, but there were only two in the whole show and they looked a little rough for the price. My wife made out better than I did - she got a couple pairs of earrings. There was a guy selling geodes and he had an old iron pipe cutter that worked perfectly for splitting geodes open. I bought my wife a geode just so I could see it work. I did buy a map that is supposed to overlay New Mexico maps to show where old ghost towns are. Anyway, I'm inspired. So, I'll be heading out in a little while to go up the road where I know a lot of fossils are, along with the potential to find some turquoise. I also got a line on where I can find geodes, but it is still a two-hour drive away.
