All my life, every year, my calendar ends on January 31 .... then I have to start over with a new one!

Pretty darn sure the Mayan calendar works EXACTLY the same way.

Might need an extra bottle of Jamesons to help me deal with all the angst ... NAAAH, no big deal, get a bottle of 'Old Overcoat" instead, gotta save a few bucks, just in case it's a big nothing!

In our calender the four years that Augustus was still called Octavian after he became emperor were not included. It should be 2016 now, 2012 for the Mayans came and went in 2008. BFD.

The Spartans held off the proto-moslems for two and a half days because wicker baskets and cloth hats don't hold up well to spears and swords wielded by people who knew how to use them. Up until then they had been pushing around Stone Age tribesmen in the back country and ceremonial palace guard fruit forces until then. Their weapons were as toy like as their "armor" in comparison to those who dressed as well as armed to kill.
