Caveman Steak Recipe - Cooked directly on the coals
This is how I read Gen. Eisenhower cooked his steaks at his Gettysburg farm when he had guests.
Never did find how he did it but found this one. Nobody complained so I guess it must be good? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lannK14WCOU

We did that in Africa a lot. Best thing off the fire were marrow bones. Worse thing about it was sitting next to the fire in the dirt. We never stopped hunting until dusk than a 45 minute ride back to camp it was generally dark as fuck by then. Everything was made better by lots of cocktail around the fire!

Once it has a good sear Bill just leave it by the fire and let it cook more to your preferred taste. Like any meat or fowl let it rest to keep the juices in.
I posted before but the best turkey I turned out was a tip from a cooking show. Whatever time to cook it let it sit 'rest' for the same amount of time. 3 hr. cook 3 hr. rest. Juicy and tender like you could not imagine. Room temp. gravy warms it up. No more moms 'sorry mom' dried turkey. Out of the oven start slicing. Nooooo. |
