Louie,Louie
Louie,Louie, and not Fairycoon.my good buddy Louie the cow has met his end and is on his way to the big freezer in the garage
he was my runt that was nursed back to health and wasn't thought to survive and the last of my larger group of cows I had. I will miss him because he was kind of special to me because of his personality,he was very gentle, even to the dogs and cat,,I always feel like a traitor when I have when slaughtered but that is what I raise them for.

I don't know if you can feel any worse than the folks I know who bottle feed their steers goat milk their whole life.
They people I'm talking about raise dairy goats and make their own cheese, which they enter into craft cheese competitions all over the country. The excess milk gets fed to their steer every day. Folks I talked to, who have eaten that beef, say it is the most tender beef you have ever eaten.

NEVER make a pet out of a critter you are going to eat.
Unless you totally understand what will have to take place. Had some 'friends' years ago, that raised a beef critter. Let their kids make an absolute pet out of it. Kept the damned thing until the youngest graduated from high school. Told the kids that they sold it to an 'Animal Rescue' outfit when they decided to quit farming. Don't know if that was the truth or not. |

nahh,,none of them are pets but I do like some more then others, once they get as big as he was they are nothing but a money pit,it was his time.
although he looks kinda strange in the picture (he is a Swiss, more of a milker)he weighed up at 864 lbs at the butcher shop, the guy we had kill and process him had his crane maxed out to get his face out of the dirt. |
