I always ask if someone is going to save their brass, before picking it up along with mine.
I'd probably find a new place to shoot if people were stealing it. I've even had people give me brass they had picked up, but didn't intend to reload. That includes a bag full of .32 Magnum, which I don't load. But I might, some day.

When I lived in Nevada there was a gravel pit where the Sheriff's Dept. used to practice.
They left a LOT of brass behind. Back then it was .38s and .357s and I collected them all. Other various calibers would periodically appear also. I have a very extensive brass collection. A LOT of which I will probably never reload. I still have lots of dies though. Used to reload for friends, and sometimes even contributed 'found' brass. |

gunky that is great.. Where did you get it if I may ask?
How does it attach? Found it gunky. They discontinued it. Got good ratings, do not know why? I put up a homemade one in the video section..

I take a tarp and tent stakes with me to the range. It catches the brass for me just fine.
If someone started taking my brass I'd just borrow a line from Gunkgy and say "excuse me wtf r you doin'?"

Usually a 12' x 20' and a hand full of the 'wire type' tent stakes that you can push in by hand, no need for a hammer, will fill your needs. Then when you're done shooting, fold it up with the brass still on it and when you get home, have someone help you 'unfold it' into a 5 gallon bucket. Then they can help you fold the tarp properly for storage. |

I shoot mostly revolvers, with my auto's I'll pick up what I can find. But the 10mm's throw the damn brass all over the damn country side very few others shoot it and even fewer reload for it, just can't find many of them. So most of my 10mm's are loaded in new brass. The 9mm's are easy to find mine and every body else's who don't want theirs. Everything else is a revolver or I use a brass catcher for the AR's and the FAL. I don't have a brass catcher for the 742 But I find most of the 30-06 brass and I have over 5000 pieces not loaded yet and 2000 loaded.

Yes Rew
I did some research on "brass catchers."
All kinds of creative ideas out there. Come too the Ocala range and do some shooting with me. Like a bunch of damn mice behind you, grabbing the brass. Only thing I have not seen, yet, is someone with a baseball mitt grabbing the brass before it hits the ground. I don't want to give them any ideas, that will be next. |

If I remember correctly, I got it fron cheaper than dirt. In the picture it is attached to my hand with a velcro strap. At first it was akward to use, just felt weird. Now I don't even notice it. I only let it get about 25 rounds in it (3 single stack mags) just due to the weight of the brass flopping around on your hand. |

There's a company that makes black plastic box brass catchers for most self loading rifles.
