Thanks!
They really weren't empty, but just about. They were thicker than that a couple weeks ago, two and three deep on each hole and a bunch in the holding pattern. We were going through about four gallons of "nectar" a day. I almost quit feeding them when a 25lb bag of sugar lasted a week. Brian |

Dang, you really have a population of hummers.
I left mine out, through the Winter, the bottom broke off, it was glass. Now I have a smaller one, plastic, but haven't set it out yet. WAY past time, I'm sure. |

Gus, Arizona has just about every type of humming bird on the planet. From the smallest to the biggest. You just don't see them too often.
I don't remember having near this many ever, here. Funny, I had been threatening to set the video camera up on the tripod and film them, I set everything up and.......... They quit coming... Just a few here and there. We had a storm the other day and they showed back up during and after, just like before. Now last-night we had another storm go through and they showed up again and I got 'em this time! Brian |

They are emptying out my feeder about every 3-4 days, and I never see more than three at a time. That video just left me dumbfounded. Glad I don't have THAT many around here!

That is a lot of hummers. I usually have no more than two or three at a time.
Sanders, if there is a high wind and the air is dry the syrup evaporates out in a day or two.

I have a lot of that around here! It lasts a little longer, now that I put a bird bath out. I was getting wrens and such drinking from the feeder, which is just like Brian's in the video.

It doesn't have a chance to evaporate here. Matter of fact, when we only had one or two, one male would guard each one and nobody got anything and it would last a long time. We put up two on each side and they go down real quick. They don't feel the need to guard them, I guess?
