M1A/M14 MAGS?
Well I have finally joined the M1A crowed. I purchased a "fully loaded" M1A today while in Benton TN(nm barrel, front and rear sight, trigger). I got a Springfield coupon for alleged discounted items including mags which are almost $40 bucks each. Is there a cheaper source for good quality M1A 20 round mags or is this as good as I can get? I want high quality not cheap knockoffs.
Thanks |

Don't waste your money on cheap, aftermarket mags. Get USGI surplus (around $25/ea.) or the Taiwanese mags which seem to do pretty well.
Watch out for USGI forgeries -- there are A LOT of them out there. This link will guide you to all you ever wanted to know about M14 mags.

As Sanders said, stick with USGI mags and you will never have problems.
You can find good used USGI mags from $25-$35 per, if you look around. Try these sites: http://www.warrifles.com http://www.rifle-company.com http://www.sparrowhawkm14.com If none of the members can help let me know, I'll give you a few more sites to check out.

While I agree that USGI should run around $35.00, they are getting harder to find. If the mag is not parkerized, it is aftermarket junk. If it is parkerized, it may be USGI, or a knockoff. Be careful. The price Springfield is asking is on the high side, but they will at least stand behind their product. I got the last ten M-14 mags left in my last units arms room, before they tossed them in the dumpster. Such luck is not likely to occur anymore. Just remember...

I have heard these guys have the only cheap/reliable mags available today - http://www.44mag.com/products.asp?dept=1318
All the guys on the M14 forums swear by them, and if I needed any I wouldn't hesitate to order from them. I have been hearing the Taiwanese mags that are recently being offered are a lot of fakes that just say they are from there, and are no good. But for $22-24 a piece those beat your $50ish prices! Good Luck! |
