Wet Laptop
the wonderful April icestorm last weekend backed up my roof and caused a leak which dripped on my wifes laptop.
I turned it upside down for a couple days close to the woodstove and then turned it on,,,the screen was weird looking and hard to see the icons through so it is now in a giant bag of rice,,20lbs worth,,lol if this doesn't work is there anyway to retrieve the info on it?,,someone told me that I can use an HDMI cable and use my tv for a screen ,,I would like to get the info out of it if I can to put on a stick and download back into her new Laptop.

I have my HP tower pc hooked up to a 43" 4k TV. Have been using flat screen TVs as monitor's since 2002 when I saw a HDMI plugin on the back of a new 32" SONY I just bought. I read about the rice trick, good luck. I have a laptop and a 32" TV in my guest room using a 8ft HDMI cable. It uses wifi to get the time warner cable signal from my router.
