Repaired my chainsaw today
I have a 2012 42cc 18" Craftsman (Poulan) chainsaw that refused to start when we started storm cleanup last week.
I replaced the fuel lines that had become brittle, still no start. So Sunday I ordered a new factory replacement carburetor off of ebay. The carb arrived today and I replaced the old one. The saw started right up and off to the back yard/woods I went with it. We have medium/small trees and limbs down all over the place. Now we can finish cleaning up and get that debris out to the road for pickup next week. I am not crazy about working in 90+ temps but like many here I'd rather do it myself than pay someone to do something that I can do. The best part is that the carb only cost $23 w/shipping vs $200-300 for a new saw. I came in to take a break and cool off, now It's time to go get hot again.

If you buy that high $$ mix in the cans, it has no ethanol and won't gum up your carb.
Or, if you can find some non-ethanol gasoline in your area, mix your own. It will last a year or so vs. one month. Here's the list for Florida: http://www.buyrealgas.com/Florida.html I only run ethanol free in my small engines. Mower, rototiller, generator, and chainsaws. Every single one of them starts first pull. Every single time. Not like when I used that other garbage.

Had a problem with my lawnmower, got a new carb from Amazon, now it works better than ever. I shopped until I found one for about $12. It doesn't pay to fiddle with them. My leaf blower gave problems too and after looking into everything I pulled the fuel out into a clear bottle, it had about quarter of a cup of water inside and water doesn't burn very well. So I need to mix a new batch of fuel and oil into my 1 gal. can.

Go to the local airport and get 100LL aviation gasoline. No more problems. Don't use corn gas.

My lawn/weed mower would run for awhile then act like it would run out of gas.
After 2 years of trying to fix it, clean carb bowl, blow out the gas line, clean the tank I finally figured out the gas cap I had replaced wasnt breathing and sealing the tank so the gas wouldnt flow out,,, Duh

My 15 year old mower finally gave out on me.
Let the step son use it and it wouldn't shut off when you let go the handle. Then he tinkered with it after pulling off the spark plug ware too many times. Now it just sits. Hell, that little suck was a winner all those years. Push that primer bulb seven times and it started on the second pull, after setting all winter with gas in the tank. I told him, well, that's what I get for loaning power equipment to ANYBODY! |

There are two places in my area that sell non-ethanol. One is a small airport, and the other is the Farm Bureau Co-Op. The Farm Bureau Co-Op has the lowest price.

I've got a little bit of an addiction to F-bodies. If the two of you ever need to get rid of that car there is a good chance I would be interested.
