Gunny, thanks for the video link. Unfortunately I field stripped mine the same as in the video. As you can see the foregrip and slide rails come out easily. Mine don't, I have a feeling the shell tube needs to be removed on mine to remove the foregrip and rails.

Gun is on it's way back from the gunsmith. He found one of the ejector fingers was just slightly bent, allowing the shell to disengage just prior to the ejector spring. I personally inspected this gun and did not detect any issue with the fingers. If I slowly worked the action it worked properly, only at normal speed was there an issue. As slight as the bend was it is obvious these guns are quite sensitive to issues with the fingers. He also stated this particular year of mossberg 500 requires removal of the shell tube to remove forgrip and rails. Just as I thought. Lesson learned.
