Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

I would love to put a bid in on this one. Bit worn but imagine the stories it could tell?
Estimates it will go for between $1,000 and $5,000.

I've been hooked on those things since childhood. Spent too much time reading Rick O'Shay & Hipshot.

I wouldn't worry about the front sight, Tim - it looks to be a period replacement, not uncommon to see such mods. Might hurt the value a little in your favor if you bid.

It's a nice, crisp no-finish gun; all matching serial numbers (except the wedge - no biggie), decent cylinder scene, un-buggered screws; it has a lot going for it.

But 23% buyer's premium - that's outrageous and would be the deal killer for me.

If you're interested in arms from this era then start haunting the classified pages at N-SSA.org. Its a great outfit. I shot there for nine years and the weapons are well cared for and usually reasonably priced. Also check their vendors out.

I like the old guns so much that I have replicas that are shooters.

If I had been a real collector I would have bought more back in the 50s/60s
and just buried them so I could have recovered them at a later date and time.

There's not just a front sight. There's actually a 'rear' sight where it doesn't belong; just forward of the 'forcing cone'. The only rear sight that belongs on these is a 'V' shaped notch in the hammer.

Interesting info on the originality. I have a few old converted from flint to percussion that were changed a bit over the years. Like posted though guys want them all dang original.

Bears the old catalog I have from the 50s these could be had in the $35 good to $50 range in really good condition. But that was a bit of money back then.
Damn where is the time machine?

Yes, I lost sight of that in my comments (no pun intended).

Probably another period replacement. I sold a similar '51 Navy a couple of
years ago that had a similar rear sight added; didn't hurt the price at all, but
then it was a just another old, grey Navy, somewhat the worse for wear than
the one in question.

cerberus I found the V hammer sight your talking about. Look at I think is the third picture and you will see it on the hammer. It would show I would imagine when you cock the hammer?
Ah hell I am going to toss in a bid at $700 just to say I tried. If the bidders really piss me off I will immediately jump it to $3,000.
