Excellent comparison of calibers. He sure wasted a lot of meat and oranges.

Pretty much proved what I have thought all along. I think the main reason police departments and the FBI switching calibers is female cops and agents. They are afraid of the heavier calibers.

He made an excellent point about fast shooting. You don't even notice the recoil. I remember when I was a kid and first shot a 12 gauge shotgun for the first time. The second shot I was anticipating the recoil and missed the target I was shooting at. However the first time I went quail hunting I saw a quail take off and Bam, I shot it. After the quail hit the ground I realized I didn't even notice any recoil.

Waste of meat, oranges and soft drinks. .40 beats 9mm in my opinion. Recoil anticipation can throw you way off if you are afraid of a large caliber handgun.

I'd say 99 percent of any misses I have are due to flinching by anticipating recoil. It really tells on you when you do it on an empty chamber.

I learned that long time ago while graduating from a .22 to a .45 and I'll never forget the old timer who told me not to anticipate the shot.

There's an article out in the nethers somewhere, that discusses anticipated and perceived recoil. Seems to me, they’re related, in that they can both be overcome with mental preparedness and practise.
