That's a fair bit larger than my best effort in N.M. Catch anything that size there and it's probably an old boot.
Good work, 4ID. |

I did not catch it. Guy in the picture did. They introduced Florida bass too California. The bass did well out there. They figure that is where the next record will come from. Whoever breaks the record, 22 pounds some ounces, unofficial? Will be an instant multi millionaire. Introduced northern Stripers here. Now we have Stripped bass. Cross breed of the two. Guy in California broke the record but snagged it. Refused the money. |

Yes.
Hence their large mouth. Depends on what they are eating. If its alive and moves, they will eat it if it fits in their mouth.
If it is dead and bought at the store, moves and looks like it should be alive, they will eat it. I catch and release. Get half way home, look in the live well. Damn things are staring at me with their big brown eyes. Ah hell I cant do it, your free. Then I go too the store and buy fish. Some few I have eaten have had a muddy taste. But basically their a real good eating fish. They are the piranha, with no teeth, of fresh water. If they are hungry and you toss a lure, they will hit. I watched a pro fishing my canal, tournament, dangle lures for an hour in front of a 5 pounder. His boat and equipment cost more than my house. Nope, try another lure, nope not that one either. Ah just nope. One of the big boys, dont know who he was. He drove by the dock and asked us too catch the damn thing. He was fishing for 50 grand $$$ first place. That was one of the pictures that was up there. My neighbor caught it the next day on a 10 inch black worm and we ate it. Good eatin 50 thousand dollar fish it was. |
