XD 40 review
My wife likes to shoot and I want her to go with me to Black Water to take their tactical pistol course in summer, so I bought her an XD 40 for her birthday. I paid $499.00 and was impressed with the apparent quality of the firearm. I also liked the fact it comes with two high cap mags, mag pouch and (I believe) fobos holster(I think this because it says "made in Isreal" on the back). My last experience with "plastic" pistols was my Glocks which I did not like and sold both. I currently carry a Kahr pm40 only because of its small size and high quality otherwise it is a beast to shoot. so needless to say I was suspicious about the XD considering its Glock like appearance and low price. Well we shot it yesterday and I have to say that I am extremely impressed. In fact, the first time I shot the pistol I put three shots in the 10ring(not usual for me I am a terrible pistol shooter). The grip is excellent, the trigger is surprisingly good and it points naturally. I am a 1911 shooter but this gun gives even my S&W 1911 a run for its money. we fired 135 rounds with no failures of any kind. The only other double action pistol I fired that impressed me this much was the Sig. My wife is small with small hands but she was able to handle the weapon and shot it pretty well.
I will buy one for myself before we go to Black Water. |

Good choice,
I have the 4" XD-45 with the dark earth frame on layaway.

FWIW,
Nothing but positives from the range I visit. And most of that from Coppers who bought them for personal off-duty or back-up use, and without exception (so far as I know) all prefer the XD to their issue Glocks. I'm a 1911 and wheelgun guy, but lately I've been thinking ... maybe a compact in 45 acp would be nice to have. Regards, |

My son had a 9 mm and recently he went out and bought the 40 too. I haven't shot either but he likes them both.

Thats the only reason I even considered one was all the positive reports.I don't really care for Glocks or other plastic framed firearms but I thought I'd give this one a go.

I have been thinking about one but for half the price I can get conversion kit's for my Witness. When I have that frame in a brief case with 4 different caliber slides and barrels I'll think about the XD again. I guess it's the same reason I like my Dan Wesson so much. One revolver 3 calibers and 3 different barrels (so far).

i have a xd-40 nothing special about it just a plane jane out of the box "ca" edition so it has low cap mags.
but love the gun, fits the hand real good, easy shooter, onlyproblem i see and it is same for all auto loaders, picking up all the brass in the grass. no pun intended. |
