Ruger SR1911 CMD; 4"; Stainless
Bought this a couple of weeks ago on GB and had it transferred to me through
my good pal up in the Hill Country. Waited until the gunshow this weekend to complete the transfer. Commander size; all matte finished stainless; a lot heavier than the 3" aluminium framed Kimber I normally carry. But this baby should be able to feed just about anything other than just ball ammo. I like everything about her, other than the color of the grips; I'll have to see if I can learn to live with that, or whether i will have to get something a little different.

Elephant ivory. More comfortable against the skin when carrying concealed, inside the waistband. Plus, it would be a double-whammy against libtards. A GUN with IVORY grips! The horror!

Agreed, although I'm not fond of ivory on stainless; would much prefer jigged stag for a touch of color. Will have to check Flea-Bay and GB to see what's available. |

Very nice pistol Rick! And I agree. As much as I like the double diamond grips those just don't seem to fit somehow. As you mentioned the stag grips would be so much more appropriate and make it the perfect bar-b-que gun. Good score!

Very nice lookin' shootin' iron Rick!
Since it has a full size frame, these will fit on it. I have these on my full size Springfield 1911. I love 'em! Price is about 1/2 of what Pachmayr charges for them. http://www.sportsmansguide.com/produ...rubber?a=70713 |

Thank you Sir!
I like them because no matter how 'dry or sweaty' my hands may be, I get the same grip EVERY TIME! I love them! These were recommended to me by members of this forum. I've had these on my 1911-A1 for somewhere around 5 years, maybe longer. I've replaced them once! I drive a truck and rubbing on my short/arm rest, beats the sh*t out of the rubber part (it's soft rubber), and they wear out after about 2 years or so. The Rosewood part of the grips are from the original set of grips that I bought. Like I said, I love 'em! Only things/modifications I've done are........ NOTE: Rick, YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO THIS! My Springfield has an ambidextrous safety. These grips are NOT made for use with a ambi safety. I used a NEW (very sharp), blade in a 'utility knife' to trim enough material off the back side of the right grip. I trimmed just enough wood/material for the ambi safety to work flawlessly when the grips are tightened down (a little bit of trial & error). Once it worked with no hang ups, I installed the grips. Rick, you SHOULD do this... One time I had the screw that holds the Pachmayr 'medallion' on the grip, work loose & fall out. I didn't know that until my brothers friend asked to see my pistol and I dropped the mag and ejected the round from the chamber. When I dropped the mag over the picnic table, the screw dropped out behind it. When I got home, I took it apart again and added a small drop of BLUE Permatex to the threads. It stays soft yet, locks the screw in place. haven't had a problem with 'loose screws' since. |

That is one sweet "Commander" sized gun from Ruger, I wish they had a rowel hammer and short trigger though.

shown of your carry piece. They look very businesslike, but because of my rather small girly hands (we won't go into the other attributes that Mr. trump talks about ) I'm not fond of wrap arounds. I've selected a few possibles on Flea-Bay and am weeding out the ones I rather like, but I haven't found any yet that scream out for my attention. I have found that the standard plain checkered hardwood grips that came with the Kimber allow me good control of that pistol - but the Ruger ones still gots to go. |

Well, not quite what I originally imagined I'd install on the Ruger, but the
image below shows what are on the pistol now. Rather nicely figured Cocobolo smooth grips very well made by Esmeralda. Found her website, liked what I saw and bought these. In reality, they do not have the red that shows in the on-line image, but they are still spectacular in my eye. The image below, borrowed from the website, appears a lot darker in this post - you can still see the online image in the Esmerelda site. Paid for on-line last Wednesday - delivered to my mailbox today. I highly recommend Esmerelda for a great product and excellent service. http://esmeralda.cc/ |

I have Houge's on my smaller .45s but those on the full size. Like any grip yah have to practice with em to see if yah like em. Rick give those grips a go if yah want their super comfortable. Nice weapon.
