Striped bass
Well pappy caught a decent sized one, 20" er so, and brought home. I just got it filleted and ready to fry tomorrow. It's not my favorite fish to eat, but with a good breading mix they do just fine.

Big ones, in the 50 too 60 pound range, we released. Small ones are some good eatin. Soon as you catch, cut a slice just by the rear tail too bleed. Then ice them down. Soak filets in butter milk for a bit if frying. If baking. Rub mayonnaise on the filets and hit it with some lemon juice and spice of your choice. Loaded with good oils and some good eatin.

A 20" rockfish (striper to you) is ideal baking size. So sweet and tender. NEVER tell anyone around the Chesapeake Bay that you EVER fried a Rock. You'll be keelhauled.

They were introduced down here on the Saint Johns river and are doing well. Also they are inbreeding with our large mouth bass and creating a new species. Just asking because that looks wide in the mid section like our new "Stripped Bass" species. |

I aint ever ate them, but I know where they can be had around here. I think speckled trout, redfish & flounder are some of the best eating fish around here.

Fish and wildlife of Ky or whoever is breeding these hybrids and putting them in my pool of the river. I believe they crossed white bass with stripers to get these hybrids that grow bigger then there parent fish.

That is the problem with people learning the English language.
"Have you ever eaten a stripper?" "Oh God no Sahib. I just look at them and give them dollars." Rails I think Eightball is correct. That looks hybrid. Down here I think they have too be 16 inches from snout too even lines with the tail fin. You better check the law up there, you maybe could go to prison for that one. If you see the game warden coming, just heave it. Or if it is close, you and your buddy grab it by the mouth and tail fin and stretch it out. |
