Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default Swamp cabbage. Never go hungry in a swamp.

Two parts I exceeded my photos. Swamp cabbage, also known as hearts of palm.
Cut low, but not too low on the tree.
Swamp cabbage and the snakes and critters can keep you alive in the swamps for a lifetime.
Picts. should be self explanatory. Take the upper palms off and use them for a blanket or hooch. Also keeps your cabbage clean while working on it.
Once you get too the lower, where the heart is, peel slowly.
It will start coming off easier and easier. The soft stuff is what you want.
Also know as "hearts of palm." Sold in cans in stores and in rich peoples restaurants.
Steam in a pan with a bit of bacon for some flavor.
Snakes love too live in them. So be very very careful when reaching in there.
We found one. Non poisonous but he was in there.

Default O.K.. Here is what yall want.

Swamp veggies. Best cabbage you ever ate cooked properly.
Coat your skin with mud too keep insects off you. Gators, fish, crabs, insects, snakes.
Lost in a swamp. Their is all the food you want.
Stay in one spot and light a fire. Easy too get lost and lots of things that will eat you before you eat them.
Build a bed off the ground. Use the vines like rope. Their all over the place.
Rattlers will avoid you but the cotton mouths will not get out of your way.

I like hearts of palms in various salads. I guess I need to look around to see what I can turn up.

That looks like a good place to hunt elephants. Perhaps the Sierra Club can transplant some there.

Lot of people live off the river and swamps. We have a Nam Vet here who built a reed boat from and old pontoon boat. Lives on it with his wood stove.
National Geographic was filming him. He sells carved wood walking sticks, arrow heads, ancient Timuncun Indian pottery too the tourists for money.
I watched him making a salad from roots and other edible plants. Catches fish, crabs. Hits the store once a month for basics.
All the fresh clean water at the springs one could need.
Seems happy and self sufficient. No burden on society.
I will get a picture next time I see him.
500grains. No elephants. But monkeys that escaped from and old Johnny Weissmuller Tarzan movie.
