I'm down to five 1 # canisters of Unique, most of it is 30 years resting.

Read several places that Unique doesn't meter well, but it works well. What's the metering problem?

I ordered 8 pounds of Unique and 5000 CCI (Lee indicates only CCI or Remington primers) small pistol primers. I'll get my large pistol primers when I go to Midway..

Pistol cases and lead projos for rifles (reduced charges) were always less than 1/10 of a grain consistent. Being consistent in how you operate your powder dump equipment. Weigh every tenth dump (or so) on the scale, just to check. That's why I never liked a progressive machine. |

Always double tap the handle, when loading the powder chamber, before the dump. That settles the powder and makes it more consistent. IF you double tap EVERY load. Make it a habit. |

I never had any trouble with Unique's metering qualities.
I do check every 5th round, even on my progressive press. It takes no time at all to pull a shell and dump it out on the scale, then dump the powder back into the shell and put it back in its spot on the plate.

I don't know that I'll ever produce enough to pay for all this, but I'll have it when things go south. Brian |

How reliable and how much can you trust the posted recipes from the powder manufactures websites?

I'm surprised no one said "Dillon".
I like 'em. I've had square deals, 550's & have 650 at the moment. I've also got RCBS turrets and single stages too if I'm not being progressive. Only lee products I've got it allox and a factory crimp die. |

They are good starting points. I usually start at the minimum and work my way up until I find a load the weapon likes best. Keep notes and take pics of your groups for record.

I'm shooting plenty of reloadable calibres, 38 super, 357 mag, 223, 22-250, 243, 25-06, 303, 308, 12 gauge. So long as I've got the paperwork, I can buy powder, projectiles & primers. I liked things better when we had neither moslems or gun registration. |
