Bit by the bug again
My name is G. Bob and I am an addict.
I've been a gunaholic for many years with very few dry spells. I was doing well for several weeks until temptation hit me again today. Found this lonely looking clearance marked display model that was looking for a caring home. Once the shakes hit, I knew that it and 150rds of ammo was coming home with me, whether I wanted them to or not. Smith & Wesson M&P 9 Shield

I have a retired cop buddy who has been using one for his everyday CC for several years now. He loves it.

Damn 'bugs' are terrible this year! I think it is the 7th since last year at this time. I picked up my 3rd or 4th one yesterday (since Jan. 1st.).
So far, I've picked up: Two Sig Sauer P365XL's (one with a Romeo Zero red dot on it for the wife). https://www.sigsauer.com/p365-xl.html https://www.sigsauer.com/p365-xl-romeozero.html One Ruger LCPII https://www.ruger.com/micros/liteRack/ One Stoeger Double Barrel 12 Ga. 'Coach Gun' (mine has the 'double trigger'). https://www.stoegerindustries.com/co...igger-shotguns One Traditions 'Rawhide' .22LR revolver. https://www.traditionsfirearms.com/p...lued-black-pvc One Howa 1500, chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. (click to the 3rd pic). https://www.howausa.com/rifles/apc_rifle/ One Ruger 57 (yesterday). https://ruger.com/products/ruger57/s...ets/16401.html And there's still 4 empty spots in my gun cabinet.....even though there's 5 of the 7 handguns I own, laying near the butts of the long guns in it. I need an IH M1 Garand, along with the associated 'Garand food'..... |

I have several friends that carry S&W M&P Shields in 9mm. They like them!

CMP still has reasonably priced Garands. Whether you can get an IH is up to chance, unless you go down to one of the stores.

Always loved the irony of its manufacturers name, it being an International Harvester of enemy souls |

I was undecided between the MP and the XDs, went with the Xds because of the grip safety. Supposed to be a good one.

My choices were between the M&P 9 and a similar sized Walthers. Price wise, I couldn't pass up the Smith. It filled a niche for me since it is my only compact 9mm. |

The local LibTard that used to live down the street, went hunting for Morel Mushrooms one day (a few years ago). He brought me a newborn fawn (White-tail Deer.....less than 1 day old), that they had found while hunting Morels.....
I'm like, "WTF are you bringing me this for?" He says, "You like guns and hunting, I found it, and 'saved' it......" Since human scent was on the fawn, it's mama sure wouldn't have anything to do with it again. I called the non-emergency number to the County Sheriff's office. They said they'd send out a DNR Officer as soon as they could. Meanwhile, this fawn was wandering around on my 18'x18' deck, with us sitting in chairs, around the table, enjoying adult beverages. The fawn made friends with us and the Black Lab (I had at the time). They played (the fawn found 'its legs'), it was comical. Finally, the DNR Officer (aka, Game Warden), showed up to take the fawn to a regional wildlife rehabilitation center. He was gonna put the fawn on the passenger side floorboard of his pickup but, I offered him the use of my dawgs kennel and a ratchet strap to tie it down (the fawn was 1/3rd the size of my 80-90 lb. Black Lab). After getting the fawn in the kennel, and in the back of his pickup, the Game Warden & I had an good conversation. He noticed that I was open carrying, a 1911-A1. He was like, "I sure wish that I could carry a 1911!" I asked him 'why' he couldn't. Apparently MN State Law, requires ALL LEO's to carry whatever sidearm their respective agency allows. MN DNR allows 'Glocks' (I presume 'standardizing firearms/magazines'....he didn't specify what model other than 9mm), and their Dept. issued AR. He did say that he used to be a County Deputy Sheriff (but didn't say which of the 88 Counties MN has), and he could carry a 1911 as a Deputy. I asked him, "If you're that proficient with a 1911, and like carrying a 1911 that much, why make the change to the DNR?" He held his arm out, and in a sweeping motion says, "I got a new pickup, this 4 wheeler in the back, a damn nice boat on a trailer and, in the winter, I can trade the 4 wheeler for a snowmobile....... I enjoy my job and get to play with cool toys!" |

I got an itch for a 9mm - a CZ P01.
None to be found anywhere, unless one pops up on one of the auction sites. Think I'll let the itch pass on its own, though. |
