Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default Rock hunting

Spent some time at a gem and mineral show, yesterday. Saw lots of interesting rocks.

I actually went there looking for a used rock tumbler, but there were only two in the whole show and they looked a little rough for the price.

My wife made out better than I did - she got a couple pairs of earrings. There was a guy selling geodes and he had an old iron pipe cutter that worked perfectly for splitting geodes open. I bought my wife a geode just so I could see it work.

I did buy a map that is supposed to overlay New Mexico maps to show where old ghost towns are.

Anyway, I'm inspired. So, I'll be heading out in a little while to go up the road where I know a lot of fossils are, along with the potential to find some turquoise. I also got a line on where I can find geodes, but it is still a two-hour drive away.

We've got lots of fossils here at my place. Every chunk of limestone is full of them. I had a friend that died a couple of years ago who knew of several turquoise mines around Tijeras. I know of several places down south around Alma where geodes roll out of the hills.

Harbor Freight has two small rock tumblers. I bought the 3lb model for making rocket candy and smoke.

Nah. Got out there and the wind came up and blew in a horizontal snowstorm.

Cold wind, blowing dust and snow, and the fun kind of went away.

I did confirm that the Cochiti Pueblo Indians bought the farmland below the bottom of Old La Bajada and blocked access to the old road. So, no more 4x4 up the hill. I guess you can still access it from the Forest Service land above, but I didn't go see.
